Plot
plot is the sequence of events that make up a story,
Internal Conflict
An internal conflict is the struggle occurring within a character’s mind.
External Conflict
A struggle that occurs between a character and an external force, such as another character, society, nature, or a situation.
Exposition
The introduction or beginning of a story that reveals important background information.
Rising Action
The piece of a story that leads up to the most exciting part—the climax.
Climax
The highest or most intense point in the development or resolution of something;
Second-Person
the writer addresses the reader using the pronoun “you”.
First-Person
The first person is a style of writing in which a story is told in the voice of one of the characters:
Point of View
a particular attitude or way of considering a matter.
Third Person Omniscient
The third person omniscient perspective gives the writer more freedom to move across time and space or into or out of the world of the story.
Unreliable narrator
An unreliable narrator is an untrustworthy storyteller, most often used in narratives with a first-person point of view.
Situational Irony
Situational irony takes place when the opposite of what is expected actually happens.
Dramatic irony
Dramatic irony occurs when the audience knows something that the characters don’t.
Verbal Irony
Verbal irony is when what is said is the opposite of the literal meaning.
Literal Language
Literal language is used to mean exactly what is written.
