What is the main message in OTSB?
The main message is to never judge a book by it cover. After Andy died, when the police and his girlfriend find him, the officer only saw him as a royal, not who he truly was.
Character development in OTSB:
-Andy -> in the beginning we see Andy as a thug in a fight with his rivals after buying cigarettes which we stereotyped him as nothing but a thug. As the story continues we realize that’s never what Andy wanted. He wanted to leave the Bronx, live in the suburbs, and have children with his girlfriend Laura.
Themes in OTSB:
-injustice -> no one helped because of their misjudgment of Andy.
Conflicts in OTSB:
-person vs. Person -> royals and Guardians.
- person vs. Self -> andy and himself + Freddie and himself.
