State of being verbs express a state of being or condition of the subject.

Verbs have tense, person, number, voice, and mood.
What is an intransitive verb?
An intransitive verb is complete in meaning with its subject and does not have a complement.
What is a transitive verb?
A transitive verb has a receiver of action to complete the meaning of the verb: the direct object.
What additional complements can transitive verbs have?
Transitive verbs may also have an additional complement, either an indirect object or an objective complement.
What is a linking verb?
A linking verb links the subject with a complement that either renames or describes the subject.
