Prescriptive Grammar
how we describe the way people are using language (ex. Regional accents)
Descriptive Grammar
the way we arrange words and phrases, and the rules that apply to the sentence structure.
Syntax
the arrangement of words and phrases in a specific order. Once changes in the position of words are made, it is possible to change the sentence’s meaning
Syntax
knowledge or words, including their structure (morphology), use (grammar), meanings (semantics), and links to other words (word/semantic relationships)
Vocabulary
a continual process of language and literacy development, which begins in the early years of life, and continues through schooling and beyond
