Claim/Counter Claim
Claim: (main argument) Counter Claim: Opposite or opposing argument
Connotation
An idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal meaning
Denotation
The literal or primary meaning of a word
Diction
The choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing.
Evidence
Facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.
Figurative Language
Use of word or phrase that does not have its everyday, literal meaning (EX: metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, symbolism)
Inference
A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Irony
The use of one’s meaning using language that normally signifies the opposite (something humorous)
Parallel Structure
(parallelism) The repetition of a chosen grammatical form within a sentence.
Point of View
A particular attitude or why of considering a matter.
