What does mcnulty do
McNulty was a soldier in Burma – this is how he knew Bobby’s dad
- He is a fire-eater and escapologist in the North East of England
- He is quite menacing when he tries to get people to pay to watch him
- He gives a fire-eating show for free – even if people don’t pay
- McNulty thinks Bobby is a ‘bonny lad’ and Bobby ends up caring for him
- McNulty suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from his time spent in Burma
- McNulty remembers Bobby when he sees him again but denies knowing Bobby’s Dad and his past in Burma
- Bobby has dreams about McNulty and him breathing in the fire and the world ending
- McNulty ends up settling on Keely Bay towards the end of the novel
- Some people treat McNulty very poorly and are hostile towards him (other soldiers, Joseph, the crowd)

You should aim for 4 or 5 paragraphs

E xplanation – this explains the quotation and character in more detail
Z oom – this is when you pick out a word from your quotation and explore what it shows readers
My paragraph of mcnulty
Mcnulty is a great person but also dangerous,he had the most lethal thing of all and breathed it back into himself . Mcnulty was a fire eater and an escape artist. His tricks attracted lots of people and over time he has developed tac tics to make Peale give money for his performance.
