Round character
Highly developed character with many traits

Direct characterization
When the writer tells the reader exactly what there like
Indirect characterization
Learning about a character throughout what others say,what the character says, physical appearance , and actions.

A character in conflict within an outside force nature,physical obstacle, or other character.
Plot
The sequence of events in a story

Theme
Underline message about life or human nature that the writer shares with the reader. Typically not stated directly but inferred.
Allusion
A indirect reference to a person,place,or work.
Diction
A writer or speaker choice of words and their choice of arranging them in sentences.
Foreshadowing
A writers use of hints and clues to suggest events that will occur in the story later on.
Protagonist
Main character in a work of literature who is involved a central conflict.
Antagonist
The principle fore or character in opposition to the protagonist.
Tone
The attitude a writer takes towards the subject.
Foil
Character who provides a striking contrast to another character.
First person point of view
The narrator or is one of the characters in the story and we know as much as they do.
Third person omniscient
This is an all knowing character
Third limited
The narrator is not a person in the story and the reader only knows what one character knows.
Verbal irony
When a speaker says one thing but means another.
Situational irony
What actually happens is opposite of what is expected
Dramatic irony
When the author or audience knows something the character does not know
Climax
The highest point of intensity within the story

Language that appeals to the senses.

Paradox
A seemingly contradictory or absurd statement that may suggest an important truth
Suspense
The uncertainly or anxiety we feel wan put what will happen next in a story.

When the conflict developed and the story events build towards the climax and the complications arise.
Falling action
After the climax and shows the results of the important decisions at the climax.

The religion of consannent sounds at the begging of words

The repetition of vowel sounds

The use of words whose sounds echo their meanings
Ex: buzz,gargle,pop,& bam

The feeling or the atmosphere the writer creates for the reader
