1558- crown in 300,000 debt, 100,000 to forgein money lenders(large 14% intrest), Mary tudor sold land for war with france-income from rent went down, elizabeth needed money to reqrd supporters, inflation went up

Didnt raise taxes, harded her income and cut the household expenses in half
Sold crown lands- 120,000 by 1574- crown was out of debt for the first time since 1558
