Q

Plymouth Colony

A
  • The ships sailed in July.
  • The ship took on too much water, more than they could handle. Throughout the ships progression, it continuously leaked.
  • The ship had to turn back twice and Speedwell never made it to Plymouth.
  • On September 5, they left on the Mayflower.
  • There were 102 members and 35 crew members.
  • They touched ground on November 1620 ( which was winter ) this climate was not a good thing because they had to face the harsh winter weather and they couldn’t plant food.
  • They were supposed to land in the Virginia Colony, but because they reached harsh weather they had to take down the sails and this took them off course
  • They formed the Mayflower Compact: It was kind of a democracy ( William Bradford-1st and John Corner-2nd to sign )
