Engines Flashcards
A320 NEO Engine
3
- PW1100G-JM
- Geared Turbofan (GTF)
- 35,000 lb Static Thrust
Ignition on during start
18% N2
Starter Cut Out
55% N2
If first start attempt fails (on ground)
2
- FADEC automatically second start attempt
- both igniters.
Starter valve automatically closes
Manual or Auto Start
55% N2
FADEC start protection
aborts the start if not self sustaining by 55% N2.
Dry Cranking
5 minutes MAX
Bowed Rotor Protection
4
- COOLING memo on the E/WD
- engine must be cooled prior to start
- FADEC automatic dry crank prior to start
- expected engine cooling time indicated.
TCM (Thrust Control Malfunction) Protection)
FADEC provides protection against uncontrollable high thrust during critical flight phases by detecting N1 exceeding:
(2)
- commanded thrust by 3% in flight, or
- max possible N1 (105%) during T/OFF
TCM (Thrust Control Malfunction) Protection)
On Ground + Approach and Flare
On Ground - FADEC shut down when thrust levers idle or reverse.
During Approach and Flare - FADEC reduces fuel flow.
Dual Cooling
6
- Both engines require cooling prior to start
- COOLING message for both engines on the E/WD
- Both may be dry cranked simultaneously
- Press DUAL COOLING P/B. A DUAL
- COOLING ECAM memo will appear when dual cooling is armed.
- Dual cooling requires APU bleed air.
Dual Cooling not available MEMO
2
- dual cooling is not available
2. dual cooling P/B is armed.
