Engineering Roles Flashcards
4 stages of an engineering project?
Designing, Implementing,
testing, Controlling
8 detailed words to describe the role of an engineer?
Research, Measure, Calculate, Construct, Design, Select, Simulate, Test
Mnemonic you came up with to remember the 8 words?
ReMember double C to D double S to T
Role of a Environmental Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
Concern themselves with protecting life. This can be either people, animals, or plants. they work to improve recycling, water, air quality, waste disposal and public health.
Role of a Civil Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
They deal with infrastructure. Planning, designing and overseeing the construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities, such as roads, railways, bridges, dams, irrigation projects, power plants, water and sewage systems.
Role of a Structural Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
Structural Engineers analyse, design, plan and research structures. They ensure a structure is safe and can support the needed weight. They are trained to understand and calculate the stability, strength and rigidity of a structure, ensuring it will not collapse under certain loads, forces or conditions.
Role of a Mechanical Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
Anything that moves, a mechanical engineer will deal with. They design and develop mechanical devices to complete specific jobs.
Role of a Chemical Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
They deal with the chemical properties of materials and how these can be changed or altered for specific jobs. this could range from metal coatings which prevent water damage and rust, to making plastics from oil
Role of a Electrical Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
Not only do they deal work with electronics but also power generation and distribution, motors and electromechanical devices.
power generation, transmission, utilisation and measurement are all concerns of Electrical Engineers.
Role of a Electronic Engineer? (you don’t have to memorise this)
Different from an Electrical Engineer, it is about automatic control and the implementation of it. It includes the use of analogue and digital circuits and computer programming.
