A

The furnace is where the fuel is burned to produce heat for generating steam.

Steam is generated in the rear wall, side wall and screen wall tubes.

Combustion gases are directed through backs of tubes including superheater, generating, and economizer tubes.

Chelant Boiler Water Treatment System

A

o Continuously injects chemicals into the boiler to maintain boiler water chemistry through the DFT.
o It also has continuous blowdown to rid the boiler of contaminants.
o Aides in the de-aeration process of feedwater, coats the internal piping and boiler tubes minimizing the possibility of corrosion and rust build up.
o Poor boiler chemistry will cause failure of the boiler tubes.

A

o Manual Feed Water Control Valve is used in the event of failure of the Automatic Feed Water Control Valve.

o Black Smoke- There is too much fuel in the mixture and you have 2 minutes to shut off the boiler before it blows
o White Smoke- There is too much air and you have 1 minute to shut off the boiler before it blows
