Engine Run Flashcards
Indication of uncommanded/auto acceleration
RPM advances above 31% before Idle
FTIT increases
Shutdown procedures for uncommanded/ auto acceleration
THRO- OFF
ENG CONT - SEC
FUEL MASTER - OFF
ENG FEED- OFF
Characteristics to a hot start?
FTIT is above 935C on start
Indications to anticipate a hot start
- FTIT increases rapidly through 750C, while ENG RPM is below 40%
- rate of ENG RPM increase drops-off sharply, while ENG RPM is below 40%
- ENG RPM begins to decrease following JFS cutout
Shutdown procedures for a hotstart
- THRO OFF
- Monitor FTIT
- If FTIT remains above 500C, motor engine with JFS until is below 200C, not to exceed 4 min
Characteristics of a hung start
Eng RPM has stopped increases below IDLE, FTIT stabilized below 935C
Shutdown procedures for a hung start
- THRO OFF
- Motor engine for 20 sec if JFS start 1 was attempted, 1 min for JFS start 2
Characteristics of a No Start
Engine light-off does not occur within 10 sec of throttle in idle(15 sec for after main fuel system)
Shutdown procedures for a No Star
- THRO OFF
- Motor engine for 20 sec if JFS start 1 was attempted, 1 min for JFS start 2
Nonrecoverable stalls are called
stagnations
stagnations are characterized by
- Rising FTIT and decreasing RPM
- Rising FTIT and RPM less than 62%
- Lack of response to throttle movement
Recovery from stall or stagnation.
If a stall occurs______ and if stall clears______.
SNAP throttle to IDLE, stabalize for 5min idle run and shutdown engine
If a stall does not clear, it is a________________.
Stagnation
Shutdown procedures for a stagnation.
Retard throttle to OFF and monitor FTIT.
If FTIT remains above 500C, motor engine with JFS until is below 200C. Not to exceed 4 min.
If a hydrazine leak is detected during engine run.
- nonpersonnel clears the area.
- shutdown engine.
- abandon acft and clear the area.
If acft jumps chocks.
SNAP throttle to IDLE. Apply max toe braking.
