Engine Flashcards
how does Jet engine work ?
Air suck into to fan bl,
then compress by low and high pressure compressor, compressed air ignited with fuel in combustion canber, final the exhausted gas pass through the nozzle and turn the crankshaft, engines operate substantially
What is bypass ratio
The ratio between the mass flow rate of air drawn through the fan disk to the mass flow rate of air passing through the engine core
What is n1
Rotational speeds of low pressure compressor expressed as a percentage of a nominal value
What is engine pressure ratio?
Pressure ratio of the total pressure in the engine nozzle divided by the total pressure in the inlet section of the engine
What is Fine pitch propeller?
Operates at high angle of attack and high RPM
Efficient during take off and initial clinic in hight rpm setting
What is Coarse pitch propeller ?
Operate at low angle of attack and low rpm.
What is fixed pitch propeller ?
Pitch angel of b, is fixed, Is optimum at normal range of cruising speed and engine rpm.
What is Variable pitch propeller?
Blade angle is adjustable during all stage of flight, Allow the propeller operate to the optimum angle of attack,
Constant speed propeller changes itself to keep constant RPM, using mechanical, hydraulic control
what is supercharge an turbocharge engine
increases an internal combustion engine’s efficiency.
supercharger is mechanically driven by the engine, often through a belt connected to the crankshaft, whereas a turbocharger is powered by a turbine driven by the engine’s exhaust gas.
design of the blades design
?
define V1, Vr, V2
V1 is decision speed
Vr the speed at which the pilot commences rotating
V2 take off safety speed
what is MTOW
Minimum take off speed
means an aircraft is the maximum weight at which the pilot is allowed to attempt to take off, due to structural or other limits.
