Sentence
Noun or pronoun that does the work or action
Subject
Remaining part of the sentence. It begins with the verb
Predicate
Shows action or ativity, or work alone done by the subject
Verb
Noun or pronoun that recieves the action done by the subject
Object
components of sentence
Subject, verb, object, clause
Noun or pronoun that recieves the action directly. Answers the word ‘for whom or to whom’. Mostly apear immediately after the verb
Direct object
Groups of words that contain a subject as well as a verb. It functions as part of a sentence or as a whole sentence
Clause
Type of clause rhat has a complete thought
Independent clause
Type of clause tjat cannot stand alone or does not convey a complete meaning
Dependent clause
Noun or pronoun that is a secondary object
Indirect object
Can be an adjective, a name, or a profession
Complement
Espresses the quantity or condition of the subjecf
Subject complement
Expresses the wuality of an object
Object complement
Woed or phrase that gives information about action, an event. Can be idenrifies by asking ‘when, where, why, and how’
Adjunct
Consists of 1 independent clause
Simple sentence
Two or more independent claus ejoined by a coordinating conjunctions or semicolon
Compound sentence
1 independent clause and at least 1 dependent clause wirh a subordinating conjunction
Complex sentence
At least 2 independenr clause and 1 or more dependent clause
Compound-complex sentence
Helping vers that privides additi9nal meaning to the main verb
