2
Q

name some things about fossil fuels

A

they take million of years to form. They form from dead plants and animals. Coal, oil and gasoline, and natural gas are fossil fuels. They will eventually be used up and are nonrenewable.

Q

What is potential energy?

A

Stored energy. like the roller coaster on top of the hill.
The heavier the object, the more potential energy.
The higher the release point, the more potential energy.

15
Q

What is wind energy? (wind turbines)

A

considered clean energy! wind is always available. one negative is that they take up a lot of space and we need room for them.

16
Q

what is solar energy?

A

energy from the SUN. People get the sun’s energy by eating plants, because the plants use the sun’s energy to make food.

17
Q

Energy Transfers and Changes - What is transformation?

A

transformed energy. Energy CHANGES from one from of energy to another

18
Q

What is transferred energy?

A

energy moves from one energy to another

19
Q

What is collision energy?

A

when objects collide…energy transfers from one object to another. Think of the marbles.

20
Q

Circuits and Waves - What are circuits?

A

a path for electricity to go through. Circuits must be CLOSED in order to work

21
Q

What are series circuits?

A

1 battery, 2 bulbs. When one bulb goes out the other one does also.

22
Q

What are parallel circuits?

A

1 battery, 2 bulbs. When one bulb goes out the other one STAYS ON

23
Q

How do waves travel?

A

waves travel in constant and predictable patterns

24
Q

What is a wavelength?

A

the space between 2 wave peaks

25
Q

What is amplitude?

A

the height of the wave

26
Q

What is frequency?

A

the time it takes for 2 wave peaks to pass 1 point. Objects move fastest when waves have HIGH FREQUENCY!

27
Q

When are waves more relaxing?

A

When there is a LOW FREQUENCY, shorter wavelength, and shorter height (amplitude)

28
Q

What happens when a sound is constantly repeated?

A

the sound waves will continue in the same pattern

29
Q

When an object is released and begins to fall towards the ground, it has…

A

motion energy
