What is meant by transferring energy mechanically
When a force makes something move.
Eg. An object is pushed, pulled, stretched or squashed (so when the motion or position of an object changes)
If an object is dropped, it moves through a gravitational field and this causes energy to transfer from a gravitational potential energy store to its kinetic energy store
What is meant transferring energy by light or sound
When light or sound waves carry energy from one place to another.
For example, light bulbs, candle flames, microwaves, talking, music, radio
What is meant by transferring energy electrically
When electric charges move around an electric circuit.
Eg a simple circuit may consist of a battery, lamp and wires. Internal energy stored in the battery is transferred to moving charges particles in the wire.
What is meant by transferring energy by heating
When energy is transferred from hotter objects to colder objects.
How?
Through conduction or radiation
