Energy Systems Flashcards
What is fitness?
The condition of the body being physically fit and healthy.
What is aerobic capacity? (stamina)
The ability of the heart and lungs to deliver oxygen through the blood to the muscles to produce energy.
What is muscular strength?
The ability of the muscle to exert a single maximal force to overcome a resistance.
What is muscular endurance?
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to sustain or repeat a force over a period of time.
What is flexibly?
The range of movement about a joint.
What is body composition?
Refers to the ratio of fat to non fat component in the body.
What is muscular power?
The ability of the muscle to generate a force as quickly as possible.
What is anaerobic capacity?
The ability to get your body or individual body parts moving quickly over a short period of time.
What is agility?
The ability to change direction and body position quickly without losing balance.
What is balance?
Your ability to stay upright or in control of your body position when stationary or moving.
What is coordination?
The ability to time your movements so that you perform the skill accurately.
What is ATP-CP?
It is supplied for high-intensity activities such as sprints and jumps.
What is anaerobic glycolysis?
Which is the dominant energy system during longer-term high-intensity activities such as 200-400 metre sprint.
What is aerobic energy?
It is longer, slower, less intense activities such as long distance running.
