ENERGY SYSTEM Flashcards
works in various ways in which it generates fuel and uses it as energy to perform a certain task
energy system
- Most sources of fuel
- comes from the food we eat.
Substrate
THREE FUEL FOR ENERGY
Carbohydrates, Fat, Protein
the preferred source of fuel during exercise (glycogen)
Carbohydrates
concentrated fuel used during rest and prolonged sub-maximal exercise
Fat
used for growth and repair (negligible use during exercise)
Protein
energy sources formed to provide fuel for the body.
Adenosine Triphosphate
THREE ENERGY SYSTEM
ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate
Glycolytic System
Oxidative System
an organic compound that provides energy to drive many processes in living cells such as muscle contraction, nerve impulse propagation.
ATP or Adenosine Triphosphate
the breakdown (lysis) of glucose and consists of a series of chemical reactions that are controlled by enzymes
Glycolytic System
also known as Krebs Cycle and the citric acid cycle. In this system, carbohydrates and fats are the primary energy sources converted into ATP and this process takes place in the mitochondria of the cell.
Oxidative System
involves continuous, dynamic, explosive, and quick movements.
Fast-moving dances
This dance involves quick footwork, change of position, and intense rotations which requires intense force exertion that affects the work output of the body.
salsa
- it involves minimal, slow and precise movement of the body.
- are commonly performed in social gathering, traditional events, ceremonies and rituals.
- The dances are more focused on the interpretation of feeling and emotions.
Slow-moving dances
it requires a lot of sustainable energy to perform in an extended period of time.
Long Duration dances
