Energy Part 2 Flashcards
When energy moves from one place to another
Energy Transfer
Ex: conducting wires that connect the two terminals of a battery
Pathway
an open circut is a circut in which the path is incomplete which means there is no flow of current
Open Circut
a closed circuit is a circut in which the path is complete and there is a flow of current in the path
Closed Circut
a switch is an electrical component that is used to turn on and turn off any equipment, like a television, washing machine, lights, fans, etc.
Switch
electric current is the flow of electric charge from one place to another in a circut
electric current
an electric current has to have a power source, wires for the electricity to flow through, and a device such as a lamp or motor that uses the electric current
electric current model
Substances that do not allow an electric charge to pass through. Ex: glass, air, cotton, plastic, rubber, and wood.
Insulator
Substances that an electric charge can pass through without difficulty. Ex: power lines, fences for livestock, battery jumper cables, powering electric devices, also copper, aluminum, steel, iron, gold, and silver.
Conductors
Such as a battery
Source
Such as a light bulb or other device that uses energy
