Energy, enzymes & metabolism Flashcards
What are the two different types of metabolism?
Catabolism (nedbrytning, energy output) & anabolism (uppbyggnad, energy input)
What are the two different Active electron Carriers in anabolic & catabolic reactions?
NAD (catabolic) & NADH (anabolic)
What does the enzyme do in a reaction?
Works as an catalyst, lowers the activation energy
How does enzymes work (three things)?
- Enzymes can orient the substrate
- Enzymes can induce strain in the substrate
- Can temporarily add chemical groups to substrate
What are the different regulatory partners of enzymes (3st) ?
- Prostethic groups
- Inorganic factors
- Coenzymes (binds to active sites)
How are enzymes regulated (4 st)?
- Irreversible inhibition
- Reversible inhibition
- Allosteric regulation
- Fosfolering
Describe the enzyme regulation reversible inhibition
Competitive inhibition - takes the substrates place
Uncompetitive inhibition - sätter sig som ett lock
Noncompetitive inhibition - binds to enzym –> changes the enzyme form –> substrate can’t bind
Describe the enzyme regulation Allosteric inhibition
Inhibition - keeps the enzyme inactive
Activator - keeps the enzyme active
