Energy And Work Done Flashcards
1
Q
When does work happen on an object?
A
When an object is moved by a force, work is done on the object by the force so the force transfers energy to the object. The amount of energy transferred to the object is equal to the work done on it (energy transferred = work done)
2
Q
What is the formula for work done?
A
Work done = force applied x distance
3
Q
What is the formula for power?
A
Power = work done ÷ time
4
Q
What is work?
A
When you do something that opposes another force
5
Q
What is power?
A
The amount of work/energy transferred in a given time
6
Q
What store is friction usually transferred to?
A
Thermal energy store
7
Q
What is the relationship between forces and work done
A
Force = work done
