Q

What are the Laws Of Energy and Conservation?

A
  • Energy can’t be created or destroyed.
  • It may be transformed from one form into another.
  • The total amount of energy always stays the same.

Q

What are the 9 Forms Of Energy?

A
  1. Gravitational: e.g. a book on the top shelf.
  2. Electrical: e.g. battery, solar cells.
  3. Elastic: e.g. rubber band.
  4. Kinetic: e.g. anything that moves.
  5. Sound: e.g. music, singing.
  6. Light: e.g. the sun.
  7. Nuclear: e.g. nuclear bombs.
  8. Chemical: e.g. fuels like natural gas.
  9. Thermal: e.g. boiling a kettle, heat caused by friction.

Q

What is the difference between energy transformations and energy transfers?

A
  • Energy transformations occur when one type of energy changes or transforms into another type of energy. For example electrical to light energy on a light bulb.
  • Energy transfer on the over hand are when energy moves without changing forms. For example, heat moving such as a pot boiling water.

Q

What is Energy Efficiency and what is the formula to calculate it?

A
  • Energy efficiency is the percentage of energy that is useful compared to all the energy put into a system.
  • Formula %: (Useful Energy/Total Energy) x 100
