Types of energy transfer
Mechanical work - a force moving an object through a distance
Electrical work - charges moving due to a potential difference
Heating - due to temperature difference caused electrically or by chemical reaction
Radiation - energy transferred as a wave, such as light or sound
kinetic energy meaning and equation
kinetic energy is the energy stored in an object due to movement.
kinetic energy = 1/2 x mass x velocity squared
GPE meaning and equation
When an object increases in height above ground its GPE increases. The change in GPE also depends on its mass and g (gravitational field strength)
change in gpe = mass x g x change in height
E gpe = mgh
equations
gravitational field strength x height = 1/2 x velocity squared
