  • Inferiorly is the sphenoid sinus
  • Superiorly is the optic chiasm and the hypothalamus
  • Carotid arteries laterally

What are the structures closely related to the thyroid gland ?

A
  • It is deep to the strap muscles
  • Common carotid arteries and internal jugular are medial to thyroid
  • With the thyroid wrapped around the trachea
  • Inferior is the sternum and great vessels
