  • Not enough ADH is being produced (cranial diabetes insipidus)
  • OR kidneys don’t respond to ADH (nephrogenic diabetes insipidus)

  • more potent analogue of vasopressin

- side effects: hyponatraemic convulsions, water intoxication (water dilutes blood too much)

  • fluid restriction
