A

Lobectomy with isthmusectomy

Adjuvant Rx: TSH suppression; radioiodine therapy for larger tumors.

A

Total thyroidectomy with postoperative iodine ablation

Rx Medullary carcinoma?

A

Total thyroidectomy; radioiodine therapy usually unsuccessful. Modified radical neck dissection is also indicated when there is lymph node involvement (most cases)

Rx Anaplastic carcinoma?

A

Chemotherapy and radiation may provide a modest improvement in survival. Prognosis grim - death within a few months, usually due to invasion of adjacent organs (trachea, neck vessels)
