Endo Treated Teeth Flashcards
What cements can be used to cement post and core?
Glass ionomer, RMGI, Resin cement
Dentist preps tooth and space, and places as prefabed post in, then builds up around it to a final core. Thisis sent to lab for casting. Lab returns the casting and dentist cements it in
Indirect
Dentist preps tooth, prepares space and cements in a prefabed post. Once post stable, amalgam and composite core done
Direct
What are 4 contraindications for direct post and resin or amalgam cores?
- Multi-rooted teeth w/ severe bends/ divergent canals
- Poor oral hygiene
- Root caries/rampant caries
- Roots fractured
What are 5 problems when fabricating post and core?
- Fractured root
- Cracks/voids in resin
- Cement mixed improperly
- Poor parallelism (increased stress on post and core)
- Undercut
How much gutta percha is left at the apex with post preparation?
Greater than or equal to 4.0mm

What does increasing the diameter of the post do to a tooth’s resistance to fracture?
Decreases resistance to fracture
