What is a covenant
An agreement between two or more people outlining their responsibilities.
What is a promise?
A declaration for someone to do something.
What was the abrahamic covenant?
God told him to leave his father’s house and go to the promise land. God said he would make him a great nation and bless him and his family.
What is the intertestimental Period?
It is the time between the last writings of the old testament and the appearance of Jesus Christ.
What’s another name for the intertestimental period and how long did it last for?
The Silent years and it lasted 400 years
Why was it called the Silent years?
It was called the silent years because during that time there was no prophetic word from God during the period Malachi to John.
what does Apocrypha mean?
Hidden
What are sects?
A group of people with different religious beliefs
Why did God allow the babylonians to destroy Israel?
Beacuse the people of israel sinned.
Whats the order of the countries that took over Israel?
Babylonians then the Persians then the greeks then the eygyptians, The syrians and then the Roman. Thats why at the start of the New testament we see the Roman empire ruling.
Who’s were the Rulers of the Greek Empire?
Alexander and Antiochus Epiphanes.
How did Alexander Rule?
He treated the greeks well and did not try to chnage their religious practices.
How did Antiochus Rule?
He put to death the male children who were circumcised along with their mothers.
What is the difference between a covenant and a Promise?
In a covenant all the persons invloved has a responsibility to fulfil while in a promise only the person who made the declaration has a responsibility of fulfilling it.
2 Benefits of a Covenant
It teaches responsibility and everyone in the covenant has something to gain from it.
