End of year 9 revision Flashcards
To solidify all yr 9 material
1
Q
Prophase
A
Prophase - chromosomes condense and membrane around the nucleus breaks down and the chromosomes lie free in the cytoplasm.
2
Q
Metaphase
A
the chromosomes line up at the centre of the cell.
3
Q
Anaphase
A
Clell fibres pull the chromosomes apart. The two arms of each chromosome go to opposite ends of the cell.
4
Q
Telophase
A
Membranes form around each of the sets of chromosomes. These become nuclei of the two new cells - nucleus has divided.
5
Q
Cytokinesis
A
Before telophase ends, the cytoplasm and cell membrane divide to form two separate cells - this process is called cytokinesis.
