Polar lands:

A biome that is characterised by having a vast, treeless environment.
Boreal forest:
The coniferous forest biome, dominated by fir and pine trees.
Mountain vegetation:
Vegetation that grows on the colder slopes of the mountainsides.
Temperate forest:
A large forest biome that experiences a range of seasonal conditions.
Grasslands:
A biome of wide open spaces, dominated by grasses.
Desert:
A dry region of the Earth with little vegetation and rainfall.
Tropical forest:
A biome that lies between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer, which has high levels of rainfall.
What is a biome?
A biome is a large area of the Earth that is home to similar plant and animal communities that are adapted to that particular environment.
The three properties that effect successful crop growth:
Fertility, texture and structure.
What are the factors farmers need to consider?
Soil, water, sun, market, temperature, technology, expertise, slope, wind, rainfall and financial resources.
What is extensive farming?
A type of farming that requires large areas of land.
What is intensive farming?
A kind of farming that can supply large volumes of produce in a relatively small area.
What is food security?
A state where all people at all times have access to enough food, that is safe and nutritious, in order to sustain a healthy life.
What is food availability?
The state of people having enough food of appropriate quality consistently available.
