What age range are enchondromas usually seen ?
10 - 30 year olds.
what is the appearances of enchondromas when in hands and feet?
Well defined lytic lesion.
When enchondroma’s are found in long bones how do there appearances differ from when in small bones ?
Well defined sclerotic chondroid calcification.
When seen in long bones what can a differential for an enchondroma be ?
A bony infarct.
Where are enchondromas rarely seen ?
In the epiphysis.
If in the epiphysis consider chondrosarcoma.
What is Ollier’s disease ?
Multiple enchondromas affecting hands and feet.
What is Maffuci syndrome ?
Multiple enchondromas with associated haemangioma (benign tumour of blood vessels).
