Civilian/Bystander with no training
What is an EMR?
Emergency Medical Rescuer. 40 hr Certification. Provides immediate care, First Aid. DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORT.
Levels/Forms of EMT Training?
Basic EMT: provides BLS(basic life support) 140 hr certification
Advanced EMT: provides intermediate BLS, 180 hr certification
Paramedic: provides ALS(advanced life support). Can administer invasive treatment, 1500 hr certification.
What are the regional EMT Certifications?
National: 20 hrs
Local: 10 hrs
Individual: 10 hrs
What is EMS?
Emergency Medical Services, pre-hospital care/out of hospital

What are EMS System Components ?
Clinical Quality: Performance of personnel
Service Quality: Performance of EMS systems

Who Provides Medical Direction?
Medical direction is provided by physician oversight.
Physicians provide QA(Quality Assurance)/QI(Quality Improvement) and make sure systems are operating as needed in the field.
What is Medical Oversight?
The legal foundation of medical practices, Scope of practice, and who can practice. Ex.: Doctors, Physicians, Nurses
Physicians are responsible for EMT certification
