What are the two ways a mortar would displace?
On order
Whenever certain events occur
(Event-oriented displacement plan)
When would you displace as a platoon?
When there is low likelihood of enemy contact or when artillery can provide support during displacement
Why would you displace by section or squad?
You need continuous fire support from mortars. One section remain in position while the other section moves. Successive or alternating bounding
What is the distance between mortar positions in a parallel formation?
The bursting diameter of HE ammunition for the particular mortar employed
What are the bursting diameter of the 60mm, 81mm and 120mm systems?
60mm- 30m
