Labour force
The labour force includes people over the age of 15 who are willing and able to work but are unable to find employment and those who are employed
Australian Bureau of Statistics
The Australian Bureau of Statistics surveys a small selection of the population every month to give the government a report on the unemployment rate.
Employed according to the ABS
Those who work at least one hour every week
Unemployed according to the ABS
Those over the age of 15 who are willing and able to work, they must also be actively looking for employment
Labour force survey
Conducted monthly by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the labour force survey involves a very small percentage of the population, people in the labour force are classified and measured according to their labour force status. From this the ABS calculate an unemployment rate and give this information to the government
