Desert Climates
Desert climates are very dry with less than 250 mm of rainfall a year. The largest hot desert in the world, the Sahara Desert, is in Africa. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea.
Semiarid Climates
Semiarid are dry climates that have irregular amounts of rain, which can often result in droughts. Plateaus are in semiarid areas. They cover most of Africa.
Tropical Climates
Tropical climates are located in the northern & southern fringes and in the central area of the continent. The Atlas Mountains are in this area.
Equatorial Climates
Equatorial climate crosses the equator. It is within 10-15 degrees latitude from the equator and is hot & wet all year round this creates a humid climate. This area is the home of several waterfalls.
