Q

What does the key term psychic numbing refer to ?

A

Psychic numbing - a state of mind like an emotional numbing that we reach not just as individuals but also as communities, it is related to mass murder and genocide , we cannot associate ourselves with these genocides

If someone tells us that 3 people have died we are much more sympathetic and empathetic to them than if they told us that 3000 people have died. Our minds are ‘numb’ as we cannot compute that large amount of people dying, our mind views them more as numbers as oppose to actual people
