What’s the human development index?
A
A measure of economic development that accounts for health (life expectancy at birth), education (years of schooling) and income (real GNI per capita at purchasing power parity).

What are the advantages of the HDI?
A
Accounts for key factors which are important for the development of a country, unlike just GDP or GNI.
Relatively easy to calculate.

What are the disadvantages of the HDI?
A
Doesn’t account for quality of life or quality of education.
No consideration for equality of income.
Doesn’t account for political freedom or the environment.
