Croup station. What’re you giving and the doses and mode of administration
5ml nebulized adrenaline 1:100
+ 0.6mg/kg dexamethasone
Given PO/IM/IV
Croup station: what is your recommendation?
If 1 dose of adrenaline given then monitor respiratory rate and stridor for 4 hours
If 2 doses were given, then admit the patient
Anaphylaxis station: What’re you giving and the doses and mode of administration
1) IM adrenaline (1:1000)
<6 = 0.15 ml
6-12 = 0.3 ml
12+ = 0.5ml
2) IM/slow IV chloremphenamine
<6 months = 0.25mg/Kg
<6 years = 2.5 mg
6-12 = 5 mg
>12 = 10 mg
3) IM/Slow IV hydrocortisone
<6 months = 25
<6 years = 50
6-12 = 100
>12 = 200
Most common organism for bronchiolitis
RSV
How would you prevent bronchiolitis
Pavillizumab for RSV
Lorazepam dosage
0.1mg/kg
Asthma Emergency: what’re you giving, dosages, and method of administration
First line x3:
Nebulized salbutamol
<6 = 2.5
>6 = 5
+ Nebulized ipratropium bromide 0.25mg
Second line:
<2 = aminophylline IV - load of 5mg/kg over 20 mins then 1ml/kg/hr
>2 = Magnesium sulphate IV 50% - 50mg/kg over 20 mins
+ IV Hydrocortisone 4mg/kg
SVT emergency station:
What will you give, with dosages, and method of administration
Adenosine 0.1mg/kg administered every 2 minutes, with each dose increasing by 0.1mg/kg
Then amiodarone
Ddx for Bell’s palsy
Tx?
UMN (contralateral): stroke, hematoma, MS
LMN: Ramsey-Hunt syndrome (shingles), acute otitis media, parotid malignancy, trauma, iatrogenic
Tx: corticosteroids, antiviral
