Emergency Procedures Flashcards
BAT DISCH
Battery is the only electrical power source. Warning GONG will be activated.
Normal during engine start
DC VOLTS, GEN AMPS and BAT AMPS -check Electrical consumption -reduce as much as possible Land as soon as practicable
The light comes on when the battery is discharged more than 2 amperes
FIRE
OEI flight condition
-Establish
Respective EMER OFF Aw
-open switch guard, press and release
Respective engine will be automatically cut off, “ACTIVE” will illuminate on the EMER OFF SW panel and F VALVE CL will illuminate on the CAD
Affected engine
-Identify
Single engine emergency shutdown
-Perform
If fire warning light is off
-LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
If fire warning light remains on
-LAND IMMEDIATELY
LIMIT
One of the following limits is exceeded
-Torque, TOT, N1, Mastmoment, OEI 30 arc, OEI 2 min, TOP time limit
Warning GONG will be activated
Respective parameter
-Reduce
If the counter time limit for OEI 30 sec or 2 min power is exceeded, ENG EXCEED caution will also illuminate
LOW FUEL 1
and/or
LOW FUEL 2
- Respective supply tank fuel quantity below threshold value
- Warning GONG will be activated
Fuel quantity indication -Check If positive fuel indication in the main tank -Both fuel pump XFER sw (F & A) Check On -Both fuel pump XFER circuit breakers (F & A) Check In If fuel low light remains on - Air conditioner Switch OFF -Bleed air Switch OFF
For helicopters with 680 liters fuel tank (673 liters if self sealing tanks are installed
LAND WITHIN 8 MINUTES
For helicopters with 719 liters fuel tank (701 liters if self sealing tanks are installed)
LAND WITHIN 10 MINUTES
ROTOR
RPM
Nro low
97% or less- steady light
Intermittent low tone (800 Hz)
Nr high
106% or above
Flashing light & GONG
112% or above
Flashing light & continuous high tone (2400 Hz)
Rotor RPM indicator- Check
Collective level- adjust as necessary to maintain Nr within normal range
If Nr is below both N2- suspect Nr failure & maintain torque about 10% to keep N2 & rotor RPM matched
XMSN OIL P
Red warning light
XMSN oil pressure is below minimum
- both XMSN OIL cautions on CAD are in
- Warning GONG will be activated
Land as soon as possible
- reduce power as much as possible
- if immediate safe landing is impossible, reduce power to a minimum for continuation of the flight (Vy) to a safe landing site. Main gearbox dryrun benchtest for 25 mins
The light comes on when the temperature in the main gearbox is below 0.5 bar
BAT DISCON
Battery is offline. Normal during EPU start or the BAT MSTR switch is in the OFF position.
BAT MSTR sw -reset the. ON
If caution remains on
Land as soon as practicable
BUSTIE OPN
Electrical systems are separated
- high load bus disconnected
- In some cases the generator may be disconnected & GEN DISCON May not appear
Do not reset bus unless you deliberately opened it or it could cause an electrical fire.
GEN AMPS -verify normal value If GEN AMPS shows normal value -land as soon as practicable YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESTART If one GEN AMPS shows XXX -turn failed system OFF If both GEN AMPS show XXX -turn both systems OFF
CAU DEGR
Degraded caution indication because of the loss of CAD lane or both VEMD lanes
CAD FAN
Failure of CAD fan detected during CPDS external test. Do not start engines, maintenance action required.
CPDS OVHT
Normal operating temperature of I-panel exceeded.
Pull for heating defog knob- push
Pull for air knob- pull
VENT SYST rheostat- turn to max
If caution indication remains on- land within 30 mins
The caution is triggered by a temperature switch in the instrument panel between 51 & 55C. If the temperature exceeds 42C the vent blower will be automatically switched on to avoid an over temp situation.
ENG CHIP
On ground
Affected engine- Identify
Single engine emergency shutdown- perform
In flight
Establish OEI
Affected engine- Identify
Single engine emergency shutdown- perform
Alternative
Engine main switch to idle (enables crew to use affected engine for landing if necessary)
Closely monitor engine parameters & be prepared to shut down if any secondary indications
Land as soon as practicable
ENG EXCEED
On ground
Maintenance action required before flight
In flight
Counter for OEI 30 sec/2 min power limitations expired or engine parameter has been exceeded
Land as soon as possible
If caution is reversible
Land as soon as practicable
Avoid operating in 30 sec/2 min OEI range
ENG FAIL
Respective N1 RPM below threshold value
OEI flight condition- Establish
Affected Engine- Identify
Single Engine Emergency Shutdown-Perform
Land as soon as practicable
