Emergency Procedures Flashcards

1
Q

Power Failure above 500ft

A
  1. Lower collective
  2. Establish glide at 70kts
  3. Adjust collective to maintain RPM (95-106%) or full down if light weight prevents attaining above 95%
  4. Select landing spot and if altitude permits, maneuver for landing into the wind.
  5. Restart attempt at pilot discretion.
  6. If unable to restart, unneccesary switches and fuel cutoff off.
  7. Cyclic flare at 40ft AGL
  8. At 8ft AGL, forward cyclic to level ship, raise collective to cushion landing, touch down level with nose straight.

Q

Power Failure Between 8ft and 500ft AGL

A
  1. Lower collective
  2. Adjust collective to maintain RPM (95-106%) or full down if light weight prevents attaining above 95%
  3. Maintain airspeed until ground approached, then make cyclic flare to reduce rate of descent and forward speed.
  4. At 8ft AGL, forward cyclic to level ship, raise collective to cushion landing, touch down level with nose straight.

Q

Air Restart Procedure

A

If N1 is above 20%: (within 10 secs of power failure) - Press ignition switch, no need to pull fuel cutoff or close throttle.

If N1 is 20% or below:

  1. Fuel Cutoff - Pull Off
  2. Throttle - Closed
  3. Start Button - Push and Release
  4. N1 at 15% or above - Fuel Cutoff, push on
  5. After peak MGT - throttle full open

Q

Emergency Water Landing

Power Off

A
  1. Same procedure as power failure over land until water contact. Unlatch doors prior to water contact (if time permits)
  2. Apply lateral cyclic when aircraft contacts water to stop rotors.
  3. Release seatbelt and clear aircraft when rotors stop.

Q

Emergency Water Landing

Power On

A
  1. Descend to hover above water
  2. Unlatch doors
  3. Passengers exit aircraft
  4. Fly to a safe distance away
  5. Battery and Generator - OFF
  6. Close throttle
  7. Keep aircraft level and apply full collective on water contact
  8. Apply lateral cyclic to stop rotors.
  9. Release seatbelt and clear aircraft when rotors stop.
