Engine Failure During Takeoff Run
Throttle - Idle Brakes - Apply Wing Flaps - Retract Mixture - Idle, Cut-Off Ignition Switch - Off Master Switch - Off
Engine Failure Immediately After Takeoff
Airspeed - 60 KIAS Mixture - Idle Cut-Off Fuel Shutoff Valve - Off Ignition Switch - Off Wing Flaps - As Required Master Switch - Off
Engine Failure During Flight
Airspeed - 60 KIAS Carburetor Heat - On Primer - In and Locked Fuel Shutoff Valve - On Mixture - Rich Ignition Switch - Both (or start if propeller is stopped)
Emergency Landing Without Engine Power
Airspeed 65 KIAS FU, 60 KIAS FD Mixture - Idle Fuel Shutoff Valve - Off Ignition Switch - Off Wing Flaps - As required 30 rec. Master Switch - Off Doors - Unlatch prior to TD Touchdown - Slightly Tail Low Brakes - Apply Heavily
Precautionary Landing with Engine Power
AS - 60KIAS Flaps 20 Fly Over field, retract flaps Radio and ELC switch off Flaps 30 AS 55 KIAS Master Switch off Unlatch doors prior to TD TD slightly low tail Ignition Switch off Brakes Apply Heavily
Fire during start on ground
Cranking - continue to get a start
If start //
-Power to 1700rpm for a few mins
-Engine - Shutdown and inspect for damage
If no start //
-Continue cranking
- Fire extinguisher - Obtain
- Engine - Secure // Master Switch off, Ignition switch off, Fuel Shutoff valve off
- Fire - extinguish using fire extinguisher, wool blanket or dirt
- Fire damage - inspect, repair or replace before next flight
Engine Fire in Flight
Mixture - Idle Cut-Off
Fuel Shutoff Valve - Off
Master Switch Off
Cabin Heat and Air - Off (except wing root vents)
AS 85KIAS - if fire is not extinguished increase glide)
Forced landing - Execute
Electrical Fire in Flight
Master Switch - Off
All other switches (except ignition) - Off
Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
Fire Extinguisher - Activate
// If fire appears out and elec. power needed
Master Switch On
Circuit Breakers - Check
Radio/Electrical Switches - ON one at a time, with delay to localize issue
Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - OPEN when fire is determined out
Cabin Fire
Master Switch - Off
Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
Fire Extinguisher - Activate
Land ASAP to inspect for damage
Wing Fire
Navigation Light Switch - Off
Strobe Light Switch - Off
Pitot Heat Switch - Off
// Side slip to keep flames away from fuel tank and cabin, land asap with flaps retracted
Ditching
Mayday
Jettison or secure
Approach into wind/parallel to swells
Flaps 30

Doors unlatch
