Flying from Upolu to Hana the engine catches on fire…

A
Enter autorotation
Turn into wind
Mayday call
Switches off

Doors unlatched

If engine keeps running make power recovery over water, allow passenger to exit, fly safe distance away, hover auto into water, lateral cyclic to stop blades, exit

If engine quits turn off fuel valve, full down auto into water, lateral cyclic to stop rotor, exit

Enter auto
Maintain minimum 70 KIAS
Slowly apply lowest power setting and see if forward flight is possible.

Q

Hovering over the bomber (OGE, full fuel, high altitude) in the Valleys your passenger asks you to turn a little to the right so they can get a better photo. As you start a right pedal turn the helicopter suddenly begins to spin to the right uncontrollably…

A

Loss of Tail Rotor Effectiveness

Apply forward cyclic, into the wind if possible
As speed is attained vertical stabilizer and clean air will allow left pedal correction

For prevention make left pedal turns in potential LTE scenarios
