EMERGENCY PROCEDURES Flashcards
Autorotation landing procedure?
-Set low collective pitch
-Monitor & control rotor rpm
-Establish 65 kt
Move fuel flow control to shutdown position
-Relight engine ( paragraph 3.2 in manual)
-Otherwise close fuel shut-off cock and switch off booster pumps, generator, alternator (if installed), electrical power master “ALL OFF” switch
-Manoeuver to head aircraft into wind on final approach
-65 ft (20 m) above ground, flare to a nose up attitude.
-20-25 ft (6-8 m) gradually apply collective to reduce sink-rate.
Landing after engine failure in Hover IGE?
-Do not reduce collective pitch
-Control yaw
-Cushion touchdown by increasing collective pitch
-Reduce collective pitch as soon as the aircraft is on ground.
Landing after engine failure in Hover OGE?
-Reduce collective pitch
-Apply forward cyclic pitch to gain airspeed according to available height
-Terminate in accordance with 2.1 procedure.
Symptoms of engine failure?
-Jerk in yaw axis
-Drop in rotor speed
(aural warning sounds below 360 rpm)
-Torque at zero
-Ng falling to zero
-Generator warning light illuminates
Engine oil pressure drop warning light illuminates
Relighting the Engine in flight?
Normal relighting ceiling is 13.000 ft (4000m), but may be attempted throughout the altitude envelope.
-Booster pumps: ON
-Wait for Ng fall below 30% then carry out normal starting procedure.
