Q

General guidance to handling emergencies

A
  1. Stabilize the aircraft. If operating below 1,000ft AGL, climb to a safe altitude above 1,000ft AGL (conditions permitting) before conducting any crew actions; complete any normal checklists already in progress; terminate training; and return all systems to the normal configuration as required.
  2. Analyse the situation. The PM shall read the ACAWS message text aloud. or if no ACAWS message exists, state the precise nature of the problem. The PF shall verify and verbally confirm the ACAWS message/abnormal situation.
  3. Take coordinated corrective action. The AC shall call for the appropriate checklist or crew action. the PM ensures the appropriate crew actions are performed as required. Engine shutdown and any irreversible action shall be confirmed by two crewmembers. Any action which directly affect the handling qualities of the aircraft shall be directed to the PF.
  4. Manage/monitor the situation.
