17
Q

Power failure while hover taxi

A

lift collective to cushion landing
BEWARE OF DYNAMIC ROLLOVER

18
Q

Power failure above 500 feet

A

Enter AUTO immediately
65 kts approx
Check collective
MAYDAY call
7700 transponder
Touch drills FUEL, KEY, BATTERY
Landing spot + into wind
40 feet roughly - flare
8 feet apply forward cyclic and raise collective before touch to cushion landing and point nose ahead

19
Q

What causes power loss?

A

Engine or dive system failure
You’ll notice a sink or yaw if engine fails or if tail rotor fails a spin to right

20
Q

How to recognise engine failure?

A

Change in noise level, nose yaw to left, oil and alt lights on and engine RPM decrease

21
Q

How to recognise a drive system failure?

A

Noise or vibration, nose yaw to either right or left
Rotor RPM decrease while engine RPM increasing

22
Q

Over pitching

A

At max weight or high altitude. Over-pitching can occur downwind downwind when throttle is fully open
