Q

Power Failure above 500ft AGL

A

Lower collective immediately for rotor RPM
Establish glide @ 70 kts
Adjust collective to keep RPM 97%-108%
Select landing site, into wind if possible

Restart (air restart procedure with sufficient time)
Fuel valve OFF, and all UNNECESSARY switches

40 ft AGL, begin cyclic flare (reduce airspeed/descent)
8ft AGL, apply fore cyclic to level ship, raise collective just before touchdown to cushion landing.

Exit helicopter
17
Q

Tachometer failure

A

If one malfunctions, use remaining tach to monitor RPM

If both are malfunctioning, use governor to control RPM.

Land as soon as practical

18
Q

Hydraulic system failure

A

HIAL Hitler

Hydraulic switch- verify ON
If not restored, HYDs OFF
Adjust airspeed & condition for comfy control
Land as soon as practical

19
Q

Governor failure

A

If engine RPM governor malfunctions, grip throttle firmly to override the governor, then switch governor off. Complete flight using manual throttle control

20
Q

🚨 Oil light 🚨

A

Indicates loss of engine power or oil pressure.

Check engine tach for power loss.

If pressure is lost, land immediately. Engine may fail or become damaged

22
Q

🚨MR TEMP🚨

A

Excessive temperature of MR gearbox.

Accompanied by any indication of a problem (noise, vibration, or temp rise) , land immediately.

23
Q

🚨MR CHIP🚨

A

Indicates metallic particles in MR gearbox.

Accompanied by any indication of a problem (noise, vibration, or temp rise) , land immediately.

24
Q

🚨TR CHIP🚨

A

Indicates metallic particles in TR gearbox.

Accompanied by any indication of a problem (noise, vibration, or temp rise) , land immediately.

25
Q

🚨LOW FUEL🚨

A

3 gallons of usable fuel, 10 mins cruise power

26
Q

🚨CLUTCH LIGHT🚨

A

Indicates clutch actuator circuit is on, engaging or disengaging clutch.

If light FLICKERS or does NOT go out within 10 seconds,

Pull clutch circuit breaker (nipple)

Land as soon as practical

27
Q

🚨ALT LIGHT🚨

A

Indicates low voltage, possible alternator failure

Turn off all unnecessary equipment

Switch alt OFF then ON to reset

If light stays on, land as soon as practical.

28
Q

🚨STARTER ON🚨

Light

A

Indicates starter motor is engaged. If light does not go out when ignition switch is turned off,

Immediately pull mixture off

Turn battery off

Have starter motor serviced

29
Q

🚨LOW RPM🚨

Light

A

Indicates rotor RPM below 97%

To restore, immediately lower collective

Roll throttle on

In forward flight, apply aft cyclic (to push air thru rotor disc)

*Light is disabled when collective is full down

30
Q

🚨GOV OFF🚨

Light

A

Engine RPM governor is switched off

31
Q

🚨CARBON MONOXIDE🚨

Light

A

Elevated levels of carbon monoxide.

Shut off cabin heat

Open vents

Transition to forward flight

If symptoms of CO poisoning, land immediately (check in with co-pilot/px)

32
Q

🚨BRAKE 🚨

light

A

Indicates rotor brake engaged. Release immediately

33
Q

🚨FULL THROTTLE🚨

light

A

Engine near full throttle.

Governor will be ineffective

Lower collective as required to extinguish light.

34
Q

🚨HYD🚨

Light

A

Indicates hydraulic system is switched off
