What are the first steps to take when intervening on a burn patient?
A
- Airway, Breathing, Circulation
- remove clothing
- wash off chemicals
- covering burn w/ clean, dry sheet
- small burns: apply cold/wet compress
- large burns: do not use cold/wet compresses (can cause hypothermia)

What kind of burns should raise suspicion for child abuse?
A
- shaped like object that could be used to burn
- circular
- “stocking and glove” distribution
- areas usually protected from burns (buttocks, perineum, etc)
- clear edges of burned area where splash marks would be expected

How are superficial burns classified?
A
- AKA first degree
- burn limited to epidermis
- red, blances with pressure
- dry
- minor swelling, pain
- resolves in 5-7 days

How is a partial-thickness burn classified?
