To obtain best performance with one engine inoperative, the airplane must be banked 3-5 degrees INTO THE OPERATIVE ENGINE, while maintaining a constant heading.
EMERGENCY ENGINE SHUTDOWN
AFFECTED ENGINE:
1. CONDITION LEVER: CUT-OFF
2. PROP LEVER: FEATHER
3. FUEL FIREWALL VALVE: CLOSED
4. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: ACTIVATE
5. ENGINE AUTO IGNITION: OFF
6. GENERATOR: OFF
7. PROP SYNC: OFF
8. ELECTRICAL LOAD: MONITOR
ENGINE FIRE ON GROUND
AFFECTED ENGINE:
1. CONDITION LEVER: CUT-OFF
2. FUEL FIREWALL VALVE: CLOSED
3. STARTER SWITCH: STARTER ONLY
4. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: ACTUATE
ENGINE FAILURE DURING GROUND ROLL
- POWER LEVERS-IDLE
- BRAKES- AS REQUIRED
- OPERATIVE ENGINE-MAX REVERSE
If insufficient runway remains for stopping: - CONDITION LEVERS CUTOFF
- FUEL FIREWALL VALVES-CLOSED
- MASTER SWITCH-OFF ( GANG BAR DOWN)
ENGINE FAILURE AFTER LIFT-OFF
(If conditions preclude an immediate landing)
1. POWER-MAX ALLOWABLE
2. AIRSPEED-MAINTAIN
3. LANDING GEAR-UP
4. PROP (INOP ENGINE)-FEATHER
5. AIRSPEED-BEST RATE OF CLIMB ( AFTER OBSTACLES CLEARED)
6. FLAPS-UP
7. CLEAN-UP (INOP ENGINE)
A. CONDITION LEVER-CUTOFF
B. FUEL FIREWALL VALVE-CLOSED
C. ENGINE AUTO IGNITION-OFF
D. AUTO-FEATHER SWITCH-OFF
E. GEN OFF
8. ELECTRICAL LOAD MONITOR
ENGINE FAILURE IN FLIGHT BELOW MIN CONTROL SPEED (VMCA)
- REDUCE POWER ON OPERATIVE ENGINE AS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL.
- LOWER NOSE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE VMCA.
- ADJUST POWER AS REQUIRED.
- SECURE AFFECTED ENGINE AS IN EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN.
