Emergency Action Plans Flashcards
What is an Emergency Action Plan?
An EAP is a written document that outlines the steps that need to be taken if there is an emergency at a sporting event.
What are the three components must be included in an EAP?
Details of:
Emergency personnel
Emergency communication
Emergency equipment
What information about each of the three components needs to be included?
Emergency personnel:
People who are responsible during an emergency situation such as first responders and first aiders. Their contact information needs to be available so they can be notified of any emergency situation.
Emergency communication:
Contact details of services that can provide better care or deal with the emergency, such as the police or paramedics (999).
Emergency equipment:
Location of items such as first aid box, defibrillator and stretchers that can be used to limit the extent of an emergency.
Who needs to be aware of the EAPs details before a sporting event?
Coaches, first aiders, incident management team and also spectators.
Why do you think it is important to have a clear and concise EAP?
EAPs are to be followed following an emergency, when there is certainly some form of injury and potentially a danger to life. If the EAP is long and not easy to understand, time can be wasted that further puts people in pain and danger. A clear and concise EAP allows for efficient action that can save lives.
